Sachin Tendulkar bats for book donation drive in Mumbai

MUMBAI: Amid loud cheering, ace cricketer Sachin Tendulkar inaugurated the third session of the 'Aviva Great Wall of Education', a joint initiative with Times of India, at a south Mumbai mall on Saturday evening.

Over 7.5 lakh books have already been collected this year from across 10 mega cities as part of the initiative which aims at making education available to lakhs of underprivileged children, and the number is increasing every minute.

"It feels good to see my own children enjoying the benefits of education and if I can bring similar joy to other children, then I would take every opportunity to do so," said Tendulkar. The master blaster also shared his recent experience of being part of a telethon by which he managed to raise money to build 140 schools for underprivileged girls. "This initiative has managed to raise over a million books over the past three years and this year itself, we wish to double this number," he added.
